My Favorite blogger

I woud love to some day give an award to Phil Defranco. The man is hilarious, genious, witty, fun, quick, and entertaining!!!

For those of you who have never heard of Phil Defranco, he is a video blogger whose videos can be found on YouTube. His videos revolve around current events, entertainment, & politics where Phil gives his opinion in an amusing & sarcastic fashion. I recommend checking out his show sometime before November 2009. Supposedly he will move on to something else after November so enjoy his show while he is still making it.

Defranco's website is http://phillyd.tv/, find him on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/user/sxephil

Cheers Phil, thanks for filling us in!

Lakewood my new home

This last weekend I experienced the joy of moving. Which was a joy as I don't have many material goods. My biggest load was 11 boxes & a couch in the back of my truck. Add in a few trips at 20 - 25 miles one way and it was a full weekend of moving & unpacking (which also went by very quickly due to my lack of material goods).

I am now living in Lakewood, which will be my new home for an undetermined amount of time.

I live about 3 miles of Union & Sixth and along that route are many fast food establishments, dive restuarants, a Wells Fargo, a Chase Office, a couple sushi restuarants, a couple Starbucks, a Kings Soopers & Safeway & two gas stations. I have everything I need near by so I'm happy & may start jogging every where...even for coffee.

Most of the drivers on this side of town don't have great timing but they aren't as slow as the drivers in Aurora. They also don't seem to tailgate like the Denverites.

Those are my preliminary pros & cons of Lakewood...more to follow.

The last time

I am moving to Lakewood this weekend which is at least 15 miles from my native Aurora. It is exciting to move some place new but bittersweet in that I will not see places I enjoy any more.

There have been countless times over the last week I have thought to myself this is the last time I will BLANK while living in Aurora. It really isn't that I won't do these things again or ever more although living 15 plus miles away from many of these things make it highly unlikely I will do them frequently in the future if at all. As I remince on all these moments I find it helpful to admit what I will miss from Aurora.

I will miss driving down spear from Down town at night. I will miss the lit up neon signs and funky hip yet run down look of the neighbor hoods I pass by while driving down town.

I will miss the slow drivers in Aurora...maybe not too much...

I will miss the Japanese terriakyi place on Monoco & Speer.

I will miss the hawaii bbq on Sable & Alameda as well as the Barnes & Nobles, Starbucks & all the shops in that out door mart.

I will miss the shops in the outdoor mall at Arapahoe & Parker in south east Aurora.

I will miss southlands.

I will miss driving down alameda, 17th, 6th ave, & 8th along any stretch of Denver & Aurora.

I will miss the new out door mall that replaced Buckingham mall.

I will miss late night treks to King Soopers in ghettoish neighbor hoods.

I will miss the Starbucks on Parker & Peoria, the crew that works there is full of awesome people. I will also miss the Peaberry's on Peoria & Iliff, I love the atmosphere there & will miss it.
I will miss jogging around Utah park & the Jewell wetlands.

I will miss walking through my neighbor hood at night.

I will miss dropping trash off in various apartment complexes late at night (weird habit I have).

I will miss cruising from I-70 to I-225 and vice versa at night.

I will miss the quick drive to DIA.

I will miss getting lost driving to Jeff McQuaid's house in Aurora.

I will miss being so close to my sister & her family.

I will miss some of the cool neighbor hood sushi places, bars, & restuarants like Nassai Sushi, Senior Rics, The Bent Fork and some of the mom & pop restuarants in that out door mall area.

I never thought I would miss this much & these parts of Aurora but I will miss them!!! And this weekend marks my adventure onward into lakewood to make memories of places in Lakewood that I will miss when I leave lakewood.

Last minute discoveries

As I enjoy the florescent light from a bar bathing light pastel colored walls while talking with my friend Dell I realize I have never been in this bar. They have tasty food & margaritas that don't give me indegestion at 2 a.m. so I would love to go back but I'm moving to Lakewood this weekend. It was my first and last time at the Bar in Senor Rics in Aurora...why did I discover you too late???

I won't miss much. The neighbor hood I'm moving into has two sushi restuarants, a Wells Fargo, a star bucks, a good mexican restuarant, and Hosea O'Sheas (an Irish-Mexican bar...every neighborhood needs one) with in three miles of my new place. Many a night will be spent there!!!

Summer Movies I enjoyed & didn't enjoy

Funny People - A Movie I really wanted to see

I really enjoyed funny people!! It was a new take on learning to live again while connecting with someone. This time it was done with comedians and careers & life issues but all the jokes really funny. Sandler & Rogen where excellent and it wasn't predictable so I enjoyed following the story and seeing where it went.

Final Destination - A movie I swore I would never see

When your friends want to see a movie that you would rather die than pay money to see and you haven't see some of these friends in ages & want to spend some time with them you find yourself making compromises. Don't every compromise over seeing this movie!! I actually thought of asking for my money back afterwards.

Friday fun

Today at work I made a hat out of aluminium foil and wore it around the office. Everyone loved it & laughed.

Some days pulling off silly stunts is too easy!!!

House sitting

Another weekend house sitting...need I say more? This is the 10th time this summer I have house sat.

The cool part was the free food - greasy & fatty burritos and pizza were in the freezer
The other cool part was use of the family's gas card - I behaved and only used it once
The uncool part was cleaning up dog vommit - Don't ask me...I only fed them dog food.

I didn't get to watch any of this families 100's of movies or spend much time doing anything fun...as I relaxed & slept most of the weekend. I did watch alot of poker...now that I'm not playing it for money I still have to get my fix.

Untasty drink reciepe #37

Don't mix Barres port & Starbucks white mocha. Doesn't go well together...
