Giving to Haiti

Most people wouldn't imagine visiting an art gallary on a Sunday night. I sure could not believe I was there. Dimly lit & packed with hip and swankly dressed urbanites and artists. I barely had enough room to walk around without someone bumping my arm & spilling my wine. Normally I go postal in such a crowded place but I didn't mind tonight. Tonight is a fund raiser for Haiti.

So aside from donnating to a relief organization & doing the sending the text for haiti to have a donnation charged to my cell phone bill I wanted to do something else. I wanted to find another way to be involved. When friends of mine invited me to a fund raiser...I couldn't say no.

I am glad I attended the fundraiser for Haiti. A few friends of mine put it together over one week. They found a venue, bands, artists, speakers who had experience reporting on earth quakes and relief organizations to donnate proceeds. Over 120 people showed! It was great!! A bunch of young hipsters in an art gallary drinking wine, checking out art & listening to music. I love that scene but I really love knowing that a percentage of the proceeds from everything sold went to charity that night.

If you live in Colorado and want to be involved with a great humanitarian organization check out Project C.U.R.E. online at - http://www.projectcure.org/. I plan on voluntering there and wanted to spread the word to all you good people.

Go do something good!!

Music from the internet

So one of these days I will post more about my trip to Brazil but in the mean time I have been on Groove Shark (www.grooveshark.com) wasting my time there. Groove Shark is an online on demand music provider. While it doesn't allow for downloads of music it does allow you to upload music to your own library. You can also browse other user's libraries & songs and add them to your library. There is a paid membership as well as a free membership. As long as you have internet access you should be able to access it from any PC. Because it is streaming music it won't work well with slow internet connection or dial up.

Shameless plug for the week - Groove Shark!!!

Back in the USA

I flew in from Brazil on Saturday. The cool thing about traveling to another countries is one gets away from home to see more of the world. One gets to see and experience different cultures, people groups, and activities that are cool and new. The bad thing about traveling to another country is culture shock & the weird feeling of deija - vu that lasts for a few days after flying home. Right now nothing seems real & I constantly feel tired. Aside from post - trip weirdness I should feel better in a couple days & post some pictures then. Until then...Feliz Ana Novu (Portugese for Happy New Year)!!
