Who I have out lived

I ran across a website where you type in your birth date and it tells shows who you have outlived and how many more days before you will have outlived various famous people & celebrities.

As of today, May, 25, 2010...I have out lived a few notable people.

I have outlived Jimi Hendrix by 2687 days
I have outlived Jim Belushi by 751 days
I have outlived Jeffrey Dahlmer by 235 days
I have outlived Nicole Brown Simpson by 36 days

That is a fact. Do the math. Amazing ain't it?

The site also tells me how much longer I have to go before I outlive famous persons who have passed away.

If I live 59 more days, I will outlive Andy Kaufman
If I live 366 more days, I will outlive Princess Diana
If I live 370 more days, I will outlive Marilyn Monroe
If I live 890 more days, I will outlive Bobby Darin
If I live 1,480 more days, I will outlive Martin Luther King
If I live 1,679 more days, I will outlive Malcom X
If I live 1,826 more days, I will outlive John Lennon

I didn't know I had so much to aspire too just by counting the days away.

Lately

I have enjoyed instant coffee. Nestcafe which is a Brazilian brand and Starbucks instant are good. For the bolder brew with body & flavor I recommend Nestcafe.

Sick at the beginning of summer!!!

Lately my coworkers have been talking about some sort of crud going around. A cold or flu like illness with heavy congestion. Since it is May & Summer is starting I was not too worried. I remember thinking to myself, what are the odds, what are the chances that I will get sick? It can't happen to me.

Turns out the odds are pretty good. It can & did happen to me. I have not enjoyed staying in lately. This weekend was the first weekend with 70 degree sunny weather all weekend and I spent most of it inside sleep. I probably would be completely over this sickness if I stayed in all weekend but I had to get outside today and the longer I have it the more it feels like a cold or flu. I don't know the difference between the two...all I know is I don't like either of them. I just know my spring isn't off to a great start!!

This last weekend

This last weekend a friend of mine, Deborah Wire graduated with her bachelor's degree. Debra is currently working for a non-profit organization that works to combat human trafficking. It has been a privilege to watch deborah grow up & mature into a person who is making a monumental difference in people's lives and the world we live. I believe her graduation is one milestone in what will be an amazing life well lived...congrats to Deborah.

The other wonderful event this week was a coworker's birthday party where I was the entertainment. I dressed as a clown & made ballon animals. I would congradulate myself but anyone who knows me knows I'm a clown so the real achievement is this is the first time I have dressed with clothing that matches my persona. My life is not so amazing...but it is interesting.

Finally decent movies are out...

It has been a while since I have seen a movie in the theatre that was fun to watch & had a story that was emotionally satisfying or interesting. Alice in Wonderland & Clash of the Titans came close but they didn't quite do the trick. Project Green Zone was anti-war propaganda & Brooklyn Stories was an original story and fun to watch but not a very fitting ending. I don't even remember anything else that was awful enough to mention...but I know there are a few I saw that weren't worth seeing in the theatre!!

The best I have seen lately are Shutter Island & Iron Man II!!! I don't even have to mention the great special effects, writing, story, supporting cast, director's choice of sceens or cuts, and the wonderfully fitting acting. You all know these things are top notch for these two movies just by watching the previews. What makes these movies stand out is they both have soul. They stand on their own as far as how the story is told & the essence of the story. Shutter Island constantly challenges the viewer through the movie and makes you think while Iron Man II makes you want to feel what it is like to fly around on in an Iron Man suit. That is the experience I want when leaving a theatre after watching a movie!!!

Las Vegas vacation…

I was in Las Vegas for a few days with a couple friends. We went out to eat a few buffets & play in poker tournaments at various casinos. Below are some of the high lights & memorable activities from the trip.

~ Playing in multiple Poker tournaments with a couple friends.

~ Playing in the Poker room at Treasure Island…very nice room!!

~ Walking around the shops at the Venetian, Bellagio, and the Wynn…such gorgeous shops!

~ Watching my buddy Jeff McQuaid try to hustle a street vendor for a gift for his wife. Jeff talked her down from $100 on an item to $45 and still was trying to get to a lower price. He ended up backing out of the sale but it was fun to watch.

~ Hanging out with another poker player we adopted. He was also on vacation & was a fun guy to hang out with.

~ Watching a guy in a wheel chair go into fits of laughter upon realizing the buffet served prunes.

~ Eating crab legs at the Rio’s Buffett!!!

~ Watching the Bellagio’s water show at night, it was like being in Ocean’s 11 only without stealing money from a casino.

My crazy weekend

Some weekends are a race from one event to another, from attending multiple activites to taking care of laundry, to visiting friends and family and squeezing in a few errands in between.

This weekend looked like the following:

Thursday night: Meet group of guys at bar for wings before Midnight showing of Iron Man II (Which was freaking awesome & you SHOULD go see it!!!)

Friday morning: Go to work with minimal amount of sleep, force myself to stay awake with coffee, sticking self in leg with pens, and a small bottle of tabasco saunce (Pain or Caffeine keep me awake...pain does a good job!).

Friday day: Work all day...very lucid which is surprising considering my lack of sleep.

Friday night: Work late due to heavy work load & finish up projects as I'm on vacation most of next week. Drive 15 miles to Aurora to pick up clothes from place I was house & pet sitting then drive home. Stop along way & pick up graduation gifts. Run off to sports bar to watch NBA play off games. Eat & flirt with waitress for a while. Eventually I decide she isn't the type of girl I'm looking for and I am not seriously interested so I go home to bed.

Saturday morning: Wake up with enough time to eat breakfast while making coffee before rushing off to graduation. Sit through graduation.

Saturday noon: Graduation party at claim jumper...GREAT FOOD!! WOW!!!

Saturday afternoon/early evening: Arrive home to clean, go through mail, then take a nap as I'm tired. Nap was first moment to relax.

Saturday night: Run to store & cook dinner. Read & write before bed at midnight.

Sunday morning: Do laundry & clean before going to church.

Sunday afternoon: After church have a moment to relax as I fix lunch & watch NBA play off game before heading out for almost a two hour hike. Return for a nap & more NBA play offs before heading out to get mother's day card & meet Mother for dinner.

Sunday evening: Dinner with Mother & sister then head home to relax for what seems like the second time this weekend. Wow what a weekend!!!

Thoughts this week

Thoughts I have had so far this week...

This is what sick leave is for...when I can't get out of bed and can't get up.

Wow I can brush my teeth & change kitty litter without throwing up!

Making balloon animals isn't too difficult...figuring out where to tie them & getting the proportions right is tricky.

My friend is pregnant...and she is friggin huge! Not really, I just wanted to think that because it is too obnoxious to say out loud.

I am not the only one who thinks Eastern Europeans are pushy, demanding, & aggressive.

A friend is graduating, he will be a counselor, he has lots of books, and will have an office. Good gift = really nice book ends.

Living in Aurora, a realistic fear is getting shot. Living in Lakewood, a realitistic fear is not seeing a beautiful sunset.

Iron Man II is a midnight showing must see - enough said!
