New Church

I have been attending Pathways for the last couple weeks and went to an open house for the church tonight. I really enjoy the community and how their approach to life and God is awesome. I love the preaching style and it seems like they abound in places to serve so I will most likely attend there.

If you live in the Denver area check them out at www.pathwayschurch.org

Super 8 & Transformers

I finally saw Super 8 at a cinema grill. It was worth it! The movie is one of the more enjoyable movies of the summer. Director Steven Spielberg & JJ Abraham successfully brought to the big screen a film that took place in the late 60's to early 70's in a mid western small town. The story telling and acting were excellent. Characters were developed well without being one dimensional and the story moved at a pace quick enough to carry the story and make one feel as part of the film without dragging. It was interesting as most movies move so quickly if an audience member blinks they miss something. The basic story is not very complicated and easy to follow. No new ground is forged but it is told in a way that is enjoyable. I recommend seeing it!

I can't believe I am admitting to enjoying seeing a Transformers movie but I did enjoy Dark side of the moon. It had darker themes and images than the previous two films. We saw transformers vaporizing people as well as a city taken over and turned into a war zone. There was less character building which allowed the story to move and although the basic plot did not vary much from the previous two films it was more entertaining as it was darker and not as Disney-esque. I do recommend seeing dark side of the moon!

TV Quote

I heard a quote today that I really enjoyed. The quote is that you can’t walk away from your truth. I have heard that idea before talking about passion or life or dreams but I like it with the word truth. It seems to capture the idea that there are certain things we not only know but believe and something about those truths vibrates deep with our souls. They can become so integral they become almost a part of us.

The quote was said about someone returning to their job & their passion. I have lost many of my passions at times and I may have lost my truths as well. The more I think about that quote I think about what truths of mine have not gone away. What are my truths?

I love AC!

My plan for how to spend most of my time away from work this freaking hot summer was to find places with AC and hang out there. I have not been able to figure out the AC at place I am renting from and for the last couple summers I have been hanging out in coffee shops, movie theaters, and local restaurants because they have AC.

Those plans no longer apply!

I figured out to program the AC for the house I am staying at and get it working.

I can stay home & be cool this summer!!!

Exploring Morrison

I live five minutes away from Morrison. It is a small town behind Red Rocks off highway eight just north of highway 285. I have driven through this town a few times, hiked nearby with friends, and had breakfast at a small restaurant there once.

Since then I have been dying to explore this town as it is close to my place in Lakewood and it is new! Exploring new parts of Lakewood helps the town feel new and it keeps me entertained and keeps life exciting.

A few weeks ago I drove through town scoping it out and drove around the area. I noticed plenty of biking and hiking trails in the area outside of town. I did not get a chance to explore the town that day so I have been wanting to return and walk around town. I was house sitting most of May & June so today was the first chance I have to got up and walk around Morrison.

I did and was some what disappointed. The town does not have many bike paths leading into or out of it and the main path is shaded and along a river but not super exciting. I discovered there is one bike trail leading into town. I have heard good things about the restaurants in town so I will have to return a few evenings to try them out. Aside from the restaurants the town has a few antique stores, a general store and park nearby.

Morrison does not have much to do outside of restaurants and a place to park a vehicle while hiking. While I may not spend much time in town I will be exploring the hills & bike paths around the area.
