Notes from house sitting

While house sitting for the last three weeks I have noticed I am glad I don’t have a dog. I can be around someone else’s dog for two weeks, after that I get tired of it falling me around all the time. I am glad I live alone.

I am staying in Aurora for this house sitting gig and miss parts of living in Aurora. I miss friendly neighbors and seeing a variety of different kinds of people. Not to say people in Lakewood (my side of town) are not nice but there is a different attitude and it is all white people. I think the driver’s in Lakewood are better drivers though…less tailgating, they get accelerate to the speed limit quicker, they drive the speed limit, and they seem to drive with purpose. I cannot say the same for the drivers in Aurora...

I have reinjured my ankle a few times so I have spent most evenings on the couch with an ice pack watching movies or reading. I wanted to get out and try a few restuarants but so far I made it out to a Caribou Coffee twice, an old Asian restaurant that I use to love, and to a book store once. I hope to make it out once or twice this weekend!

I can watch the same movies over and over and over again. In the last three weeks I have watched the following movies or parts of the following movies, multiple times: The Ides of March, 21 Jump Street, Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows, The Descendants, The Green Lantern, and Safe House.

I have watched various boxing matches & the play offs...I love having access to cable

Grass at people’s houses grows insanely quick when it rains. I have to mow it once at two different settings for fear of over loading the mower (which did happen). Glad I do not have a lawn to mow…

The nice thing about Aurora is I can find the wine I want at a decent price in a liquor store. It is harder to do so in Lakewood...

I house sit to get away from my room mates

I drove home from where I am house sitting to pick up mail, water plants, and grab new clothes. I found Dave & Lori at home! Oh no…they have returned. I knew it would be sometime. I have not asked when they leave but I am glad to have a place to be house sitting so I have more time & space to be on my own.

I wished I could I house sit to take care of animals or because I am passionate about taking care of people's homes while they are away. The truth is sometimes I do it to get away from the people I live with.

GO SEE IRON MAN 3!!!!

I can not say enough good things about the movie. It is impossible to for movies to get better as a series continues but not with Iron Man. This movie is better than the first two which is impressive considering how amazing & well done the first two movies were. Aside from Fast & the Furious this could be the most amazing movie of the year!!! From the opening monoluge by Tony Stark “A wise man once said that we create our own demons…” to the crazy fight at the finale...the movie rocks! The entire movie is worth watching so I won’t go into details but GO SEE IT!

Car broken into while in Aurora

While house sitting in Aurora my car was broken into...this is not even news worthy. Most people who understand the neighborhood understand and would shrug their shoulders. I guess what is odd is it was while the car was on my drive way and the only items taken were spare change I leave in the car to pay for toll roads or parking at meters. I found it amusing & violating at the same time.

Maybe this is what it feels like to be assaulted by a clown!

Play off blues

I am sad the Lakers & Boston Celtics are out of the play offs after the first round. I was hoping they would go further this year. I could not see either team going to the finals but I wanted see them get past the first round.

Now I am routing for Chicago Bulls & San Antonio Spurs. Since the bulls team is riddled with injuries and they are playing Miami I do not expect them to go beyond this round. Which means I may be routing for the Spurs this year. I like Miami and have respect for how they play but I cannot bring myself to route for them. I have feeling they may end up in the finals again.

We shall see and in the mean time Go Bulls & Go Spurs!

Recovering slowly

So the ankle is getting better. I noticed at the end of the first week I could rotate it further. Be the end of the second week I have full rotation & I can feel & use the muscles in my foot. I still stay off it as much as possible and wear a compression sock. I also wear a brace to hold it straight so I don't tweak it the wrong way while walking! If this takes more than another month to heal I am going to be disappointed. It is just starting to become nice out and I am dying to be outdoors hiking, biking, walking, and enjoying this lovely weather. If I have stay inside much longer I will go crazy!!
