Family news
My Father's mother has passed away this last weekend. She lived to be 93 and apparently was doing well the day she passed. Her sister, her nephew & his wife visited her the day she passed away. I know she was close to her sister and was glad they were able to spend some time together before Grandmother passed away.
I was able to see my Grand mother once a month or so for the last year and half. I would go have lunch with her, my grand father & my father at the assisted living home where they stayed. It was odd at times to be surrounded by a sea of older people characterized by white hair, glasses, wrinkles and wheel chairs or hearing aids. One day I hope to end up living in a place like that.
Every now and then after Dinner my father and I would accompany my grand parents to their room and sit to talk for a while. My grand father would fall asleep in his wheel chair and my grand mother would try to wake him. He would wake up for a moment to answer her question then fall asleep again. Many times he wouldn't wake up and I always thought he was pretending to be asleep because he wanted grand mother to leave him alone.
If you ever wonder where I get my boundless energy from it's from my grand mother. Up until last year she could walk almost as fast as I can and she was full of pep. She would always have questions or something to say and was always postive. I remember her reciting a verse from a poem during lunch many times last year "Don't fret my dear, the best is yet to come.". I never got the chance to ask her who the author was but I am sure grand mother was right, the best is yet to come.
